1. Patient Rights
| A. Right to Receive Care | |
| Patients have the right to receive appropriate healthcare services to protect and promote their health, and shall not have their health-related rights infringed on the grounds of sex, age, religion, social status, or financial circumstances. Healthcare professionals may not refuse treatment without justifiable cause. | |
| B. Right to Know and Right to Self-Determination | |
| Patients have the right to receive a full explanation from their attending physician, nurses, and other staff regarding their condition, treatment options, whether they are the subject of medical research, whether organ transplantation is involved, expected outcomes including side effects, and the cost of care; to ask detailed questions; and to decide whether or not to give consent. | |
| C. Right to Confidentiality | |
| Patients shall not have the confidentiality of their physical and health information related to treatment, or their privacy, violated. Healthcare professionals and medical institutions may not disclose or publish such information except with the patient's consent or in cases prescribed by law, such as criminal investigations. | |
| D. Right to Request Consultation · Mediation | |
In the event of a dispute related to medical services, patients may request consultation and mediation from the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency or similar bodies. | |
2. Patient Responsibilities
| A. Duty to Trust and Respect Healthcare Professionals | |
Patients shall accurately inform healthcare professionals of information related to their health, and shall trust and respect the treatment plan of their healthcare professionals. | |
| B. Duty Not to Obtain Care by Improper Means | |
| Patients shall identify themselves before receiving care and shall not obtain care by false or improper means, such as receiving treatment under another person's name. | |
